This stunning DB6 Mk2 will delight any enthusiast looking for an exceedingly rare car to add to their collection or for the discerning guy who appreciates utter beauty despite the price.
The culmination of the Aston Martin’s long running line of ‘DB’ six-cylinder sports saloons, and thus considered by many to be the last ‘real’ Aston, the DB6 was introduced in 1965, updating the DB5.
Increased rear-seat space was the prime DB6 objective so the wheelbase was now 4” longer than before, resulting in an extensive restyle with more raked windscreen, raised roofline and reshaped rear quarter windows. Opening front quarter lights made a reappearance but the major change was at the rear where a Kamm-style tail with spoiler improved the aerodynamics, greatly enhancing stability at high speeds. These many dimensional changes were integrated most successfully, the DB6’s overall length increasing by only 2”.
The Mk2 was announced in August 1969 offering enhancements over the mk1, mostly drawn from the new DBS just hitting the market: power steering, flared wheel arches adding an extra touch of style to the bodywork and wider 15” wheels. Just 240 examples were produced and many were LHD supplied to the US market. It is unclear how many are still on the road in the UK as dvla figures draw no distinction between Mk1 and Mk2 cars.
This particular car is unrestored and thus original in all respects except for a repaint 8 years ago which is absolutely superb!
Usable and collectable, it would be impossible not to be delighted with SVJ342H!
